Dolls House Characters
I don't really like any of the characters from the play. They all seem to be complaining when they don't have any real reason for it. The only character that I really liked was Mrs. Linde. For all of her complaining, she has some real reasons to be sad. She was forced to take complete care of her mother and two brothers and married a man that she didn't love so she could take care of the family. When he died she got job after job to support her family. Even though she complains about life, she is a hard worker who seems to be able to get what she wants with some hard work. I also like her because she is able to slow Nora down some. Mrs. Linde is a calming influence on Nora that Nora really needs.

March Madness and NBA
Normally I am not a real big fan of college basketball. I really only pay attention during the tournament or when a school that I like is playing. I only really follow NC State and UNC. I have been a State fan for years, and my old basketball coach got me into UNC. I got disappointed this year during the ACC tournament because of how easy UNC and State got knocked out so early. I know that UNC had a hard games both times but normally they would never have lost to Florida. They normally beat pretty much everybody that they go up against. Last year they dominated everybody that they played right up until the Final Four when they lost to Kansas.
This year already looks to be a repeat of last year. UNC beat Radford 101-58. This is what it was like last year during the tournament. They destroyed everybody that they played, and every games they won by more and more. UNC seems to be trying one last time to get to the title while they still have some of the really good players. Hansbrough is in his senior year so he will be done after this year. Lawson and Ellington could follow him this year, but they could also stay. If they both go then UNC could be in some trouble next year. They always draw pretty good recruits but that does not really mean anything. They can't be good all the time.
The NBA is really heating up this years. Dwayne Wade and Lebron James are both going all out as the season comes closer and closer to the tournament. The Celtics, the team that I normally root for, can't seem to win most of the games that should be easy. But at least they seem fine mostly now. I can't wait for the NBA finals, they are going to be really good this year.

Paper Topic
I decided to do the second paper topic because it makes the most sense to me and it seems the easiest one to do. I find that it is easier for me to break down characters and look at plot points than it is to find imagery. I like analyzing characters and looking for the motivation behind why they do the things that they do. Checking out the theme of the story should also be sorta fun. Also, I think that this might be the only topic that I can easily make the minimum limit of words in the paper. I would have a hard time writing about the other two topics.
I have serious writers block and can't think of anything to write.

Waking Up
Most days I wake to the sound of my alarm going off just above my head. Some days I wake when my roommate moves around some and makes just enough noise to wake me up. I have even been woken by the sound of the house keeping staff coming to clean our bathroom in the dorm. Today was very different.
Today I was woken by the sound of the garbage truck coming to our dorm to get the trash from the dumpster. My room is right next to the dumpster and that means that when the truck comes, it is right outside my window. Now, I understand that they have to do their jobs. I have got a lot of respect for the guys who do this job everyday. They spend their days cleaning up after the rest of us so they deserve a little respect.
The thing that I don't get is why they have to do it so early in the morning. I would think that it would be better to do it later in the day so that it does not disturb people who are sleeping. Even waiting another hour or two would allow most people to wake on their own. Now, I also understand that by waiting it is going to be hotter and more work for them. So I guess it is sorta of a stand off. The people get more sleep, or the garbage men have an easier time doing a job that most people would never do.

Getting Sick Sucks
So I found out today that I got the Flu and it really sucks. The test to prove that you have the Flu really sucks and the Flu itself really sucks. I woke up this morning felling aches, a headache, nausea, sore throat, and stuffed up nose. I originally thought that I just had a bad cold, but when I realized that I got the chills I went to the On-Campus doctor to get checked out.
The wait was not supper bad compared to the wait times that I've had at other Doctors offices. I only had to sit in the waiting room for about 10 minutes before one of the nurses came to get me. We did the regular round of small talk and the simple stuff like weight and blood pressure. After that the nurse took me to the room to wait for the Doctor. I only waited about another 10 minutes for the Doctor. Then the real fun began.
The Doctor looked in my ears and down my throat then asked me if I wanted to do the Flu test to see if it was really the Flu. I called my mom to ask if that was alright and see said that it was. So I agreed to the test. The test consisted of shoving a small cue tip up my nose really deep. It was one of the strangest feelings I have ever felt. Now I am off to sleep.

Sleep Depervation and the Super Bowl
So I got no sleep last night, and I am now curious to see how that affects my mood today. I haven't slept this little for a couple of years, so I get the feeling that I am going to be in a really funny mood all day. I hope everything goes okay because a very small thing could set me off today. I will spend most of the day in my room to keep from freaking out on someone. I was sad last night because I didn't get to party like I had hoped. Oh well, I guess that okay.
I am not even sure that I am going to watch the Super Bowl tonight. I don't really like either of the teams playing and have lost some interest in the NFL recently. I hope that the game is good, especially since the Cardinals have not been to the Super Bowl in like 60 years. I didn't think that they were going to make it to the Super Bowl this year, but they surprised everyone by making it.
One of the things that I am looking forward to with the Super Bowl is the commercials. I love to watch the commercials because they are always pretty funny. Like the commercial from last year with the dancing lizards for Sobe Life Water was great. Some of the others were pretty good, but that was the only one that stuck with me after a year. Some of them did not make very much sense or didn't seem to apply to whatever they were selling. I would hope the companies would know that their multi-million dollar commercials should make sense to the people who watch them or else no one will buy their product. But that is just me.

3rd Assignment
For this assignment we had to find information on Robert Frost that we did not know before. That was pretty easy for me since I know very little about him. All I really knew about Frost was that he is a very popular poet with poems that many people feel are very good. Other than that I had no knowledge of Frost at all. I now know a little bit more about him but that information really does nothing for me. I am not really a big fan of poetry in general so learning more about a poet is interesting but not really helpful. Below is the link to one web page that I used to learn about Robert Frost.

Assignment Number 2
I don't deal very much with stereotyping because I am a middle class white guy. I don't generally have to worry about people looking at me funny because they think that I am going to do anything to them or because they have been raised to hate me for some reason. The only time that I get funny looks is because I am a teenager and people assume that I am going to do something stupid. I guess that that could be considered stereotyping but I doesn't really hurt me like real stereotyping does. The worst that that has ever led to was being followed by a mall rent-a-cop once even though I was not doing anything wrong.
I have however witness true stereotyping with some of my friends. I have one friend who is African-American and is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He gets put into the wrong categorizes just because he is black. I have seen people move to get out of his way while we walk, or cross to the other side of the street just to keep from having to go by him. I even once saw someone ask to buy drugs from him just because he was black. The strange thing is that he never seems to get angry about it. He just lets it roll off of him like it is nothing. I once asked him why it never seems to bother him, and he told me that it is just one of the things that he has gotten used to. He said that most people just don't know any better and it's not really their fault.
Stereotyping really does not affect me all that much, but I have enough friends to have seen the the way that things can affect people. It is really a bad thing.

Red Ring of Death
So I got the Red Ring of Death on my X-box 360 around the beginning of December. I only sent it off to get fixed about a week before January, and I just got the update that it is fixed and on its way back to my house. This is a very pleasant surprise for me. I have gotten the Red Ring before and it took almost three months to get it back. Microsoft must really be on the ball lately to get it fixed and back to me so fast.
For those of you who don't know, the Red Ring of Death is one of the main problems that the X-box 360 experiences. They had other problems, including rumors of them bursting into flames if over used, when they first came out but Microsoft has since dealt with that and most of the other problems. The Red Ring occurs when the 360 heat up so much that the connections in the 360 actually melt from the heat. There have been many people who posted ways to fix this problem. DO NOT USE THEM. Most of them involve reheating the 360 in an attempt to put the connections back the way that they were. Some have worked but it is much more likely to really mess up the 360.
If you have an X-box 360 and experience this problem, get in touch with Microsoft and if you have a warranty they will be happy to help. If you are going to buy a 360, make sure to get the warranty. It might cost more and be completely unnecessary, but if you get the Red Ring of Death it is very worth it. Microsoft can be reached using the X-box 360 website or using a phone number provided on the website. You will need yours serial number and your X-box Live ID name so that Microsoft can confirm that you have a warranty. It might seem a little annoying but it keeps others for using your name to get their 360 fixed.
Hope that helps some people. I wish someone had helped me with this kind of thing.

Reading Other Blogs
Our class had to read at least two other blogs for an assignment given in class last Friday. The blogs could be about anything that interested us. Since I am a big basketball fan, both NCAA and NBA, I read a NCAA basketball blog and a blog written about the Wizards Point Guard Gilbert Arenas. I thought that both of the blogs were somewhat informative but shared mostly opinions of the writers and not all solid fact.
The NCAA blog covered many topics. It seemed that the writer was talking about anything that was happening in college basketball at the time. One post was about how the Wake Forest fans rushed the court after their win over UNC. He wrote of how it was bad to rush the court during the season because that meant that you didn't think your team could win the game. He also wrote that this was the second time in less than a year the the Wake Forest fan had stormed the court after a game. The blog has three men who seem to contribute the most to the blog.
The other blog that I looked at was written about the Wizards Point Guard Gilbert Arenas. While I am not a big fan of the Wizards in general, especially after the way they acted in the NBA finals last year against the Cavaliers (Who I do like), I think that Arenas is a good player. The writer of the blog, known only as Mr. X, writes several other blogs mostly about other NBA players, such as Steve Nash (Point Guard for the Suns), Dwayne Wade (Shooting Guard for the Heat), and Lebron James (Small Froward for the Cavaliers). The blog on Arenas covers what is going on with Agent Zero, as he is fondly known by his fans. This was a pretty good blog cover the current state of Arenas. I would recommend this blog to any Wizard fan.

First Blog
My first blog. Not real interesting. Just my first couple of thoughts. Not real sure who besides my teacher is going to read this but someone may read. Should be interesting to see if anyone comments on my thoughts. I will write about all sorts of things depending on my mood. It could be anything from music to movies to just random thoughts that pop into my mind.
My next blog will be an assinment from my teacher. It was supposed to be the first but I thought a slight introduction was in order.
